Viv Thomas is clearly proud of Pink Velvet (go to his website and see). And he has a right to be, since this is pretty close to the movie I've been looking for. It's not perfect, but I'm not going to quibble. At LLV, Three Girlfriends and Pleasing Kinsey seem to define the Five Star upper bound. Well, Pink Velvet raises the bar over them, and on anything else that I have seen (speaking as someone who owns something more than 20 Five Star discs). I have, until now, not been quite convinced by the Viv cult: I have a bunch of his stuff, which I have found, for the most part, ok to good, but usually with reservations, especially considering the price. I ordered Pink Velvet on the one last time principle, and I am a instant convert. Three Girlfriends does it pretty well, but Pink Velvet does it better (although Pink Velvet is not, alas, single takes). What more could you want: 160 minutes (!) of 4 pretty girls and one beautiful woman (Lisa, who has classic Hungarian looks, and a Snow White complexion: yum, yum! She's not as 'cute/pretty' as the others but grown-up beautiful instead) flirting, kissing, seducing each other (Dolores' play for Lisa is - ah - startling, but if you can manage to forget what it was, the following scene is great), sneaking into bedrooms and jumping into bed with each other, etc., and - most importantly - having pretty convincing sensual fun, at length (with all that running time, the scenes can be properly leisurely). As a bonus, they all have the cutest Hungarian accents. At the end it says '... to be continued'. Viv, if you are reading this, please take this as a request to continue as soon as possible, and with the same cast, especially Lisa. I'll be first in line. After a rave, here are a couple of (non-content-related) criticisms: Minor: I know Budapest pretty well, and while fifty years of communism have left it a bit bashed, it is architecturally finer than the Manchester suburb look-alike shown here (Budapest was, after all, the second city of the Habsburg empire once upon a time). Major: we see, and more importantly hear, Lisa being addressed in a couple of the outtakes, and it seems her name is not Lisa. If she wants her name to be Lisa on film, then the editor should be considerate enough not to reveal her real one so casually. Note: this review was posted based on the EU release of this movie, the US version has not been released here yet.

Just want to let you know that this video is an awesome work. I can't recall anyone who has produced anything like, save for those lesbian pornos from the 70s, which I remember fondly. This one takes all the charm from those videos, marries it to exceptional production values and explicit action, and produces an amazing video that I can't stop watching and enjoying. I'm pleased that North Americans will soon discover this rare gem of a movie.

This, my friends, is what it's all about. Viv Thomas has taken the bar and raised it to new heights with this truly stunning film. I won't bother with an in-depth review as frankly that would spoil it so all I will say is that everybody - and I mean EVERYBODY must clear a space in their collection for this masterpiece. Calling all kissing fans... Pink Velvet delivers some of THE best kissing that I have ever seen. Lisa (the older women in the film) simply loves to kiss the girls and her scenes with Jo are off the hook. The older/younger combinations are sure to satisfy the demand of those who are longing to see such scenes and as with most Viv Thomas productions, the kissing is where it's at. Quite simply, you buy this.

I have been reading the reviews on this great website almost since its beginnings. I usually don’t write reviews myself but for this film I decided to make an exception. I am hooked on lesbian erotica since the early 80s and I must have seen several hundred scenes since then. But believe me: nothing I have seen so far comes even close to what slowly unfolds in front of your eyes once you have popped this DVD in your DVD player and pressed the start button. It is simply beyond words from the first up to the very last scene. Viv’s really done it: he created a true masterpiece. Thanks LLV for getting him there. Forget Sandy, forget Promotions, forget even TNV. This is the real stuff, my friends; this will be the ultimate gem in your collection. Is it perfect? Who cares. It is beautiful, very sexy, ultra hot and it really goes under your skin. Is the sex real? I have no idea; but then again, what do we guys really know about lesbian love after all? At least it looks very real to me and I am perfectly happy with that. So I guess there’s only one thing that remains to be said: I hope this film gets loads of brilliant reviews here once it’s been available in North America (for once we Europeans are the lucky ones...) and I hope it will receive a great deal of attention and thus maybe one day inspire some of the mainstream San Fernando Valley studios to produce something along this line - instead of the usual horrible implants/dildo galore crap.

I'm fortunate to have a DVD player that allows me to view Region 2 DVDs (with the help of a separate device). One of the benefits of this set-up is that I've been able to view the incredible Pink Velvet before it was released in the US. With all the hype that has preceded it, the question to ask is not "is this any good?" or "is this a 5-Star video?", but rather "is 'Pink Velvet' the best all-girl video ever produced?" The answer, in my opinion, is a qualified yes. Qualified because there are single scenes in other videos that are better than anything here (although the Jo-Lisa scenes are amazing) and also qualified because the acting is truly dreadful (to be fair, the actresses are models who are speaking lines from a porn script -- not in their native tongues to boot). Still, those are scratches on a Ferrari. From top to bottom, this is almost 200 minutes(!) of irresistible erotica that should be in the collection of the connoisseur and the newbie. While others will compare it to the better stuff from TNV ("Three Girlfriends", "Pleasing Kinsey") and the latest Abby Winters, I actually think Pink Velvet is most like the excellent "Women Seeking Women" series in that there are multiple scenes, multiple actresses, great combinations (the older-younger pairing of Jo and Lisa as well as Jo and Dolores are both noteworthy for the passion displayed), a semblance of a story and some kinkiness (if you like anal play, you will *love* this video). The real difference is that the performers are all stunning. Simply gorgeous. Imagine a Penthouse or Playboy video in which there's really hot performances. In conclusion, if you only buy one video this month, year or decade, get this one. But once you've seen it several times, you'll definitely need to see the sequel.

Never in our wildest imaginations could we have anticipated the responses that we have received so far. We have made a lot of "Movies" in our time, some of which, we have been proud of and some not so proud. "Pink Velvet" has given all of us a buzz, that is difficult to quantify. We all have such mixed emotions about it from elation to bursting pride. However, whilst you're all acclaiming the name Viv Thomas, you should know who the real Super Stars are. Firstly it was LezLove who told/begged us to take note of what you truly wanted. Lezlove went through months of discussions with us to arrive at this stage. Even more important, is our Video Team. I am extremely lucky to have a bunch of young guys who do not have any limits to their imaginations and creativity. The team is led by Lewis Thomas (no not related) who's whole life is movies. Lewis is supported by his ex-university and close friends Steve Mates and Sean Cantwell. Finally we have Avril who is the brains behind all the styling and designs. Without this crew behind us, "Pink Velvet" would never ever have happened. So please remember the names Lewis, Sean and Mates, they are taking this business by the scruff of the neck and giving it a good shake-up. My personal thanks to all of you out there for your support.

Everyone seems that think that this DVD is 5 Star material & that it raises the bar on lesbian erotica. I hate to disagreed but in my opinion this DVD is not as good as “Girls in Love” by Abby Winters. I must admit that the DVD is hot but what no one has mentioned the music on the DVD. This music is in your face throughout the DVD and in my opinion detracts from an otherwise perfect film by Viv Thomas. If I had known there was music on the DVD, I would never have purchased it. I now regret my purchase of this DVD. I would give this DVD 3 out of 5 Stars. In the future I am going to stick to DVDs by Abby Winters, Little Eva & Little Mutt. This review refers to the PAL version of the DVD since it has not yet been released in the USA.

Well as they say, to each their own, but I honestly am surprised that this masterpiece of Sapphic pleasure could possibly get even the slightest hint of a negative review. The girls are breathtaking, the filmography pure perfection - you would never guess a camera was anywhere near these little sweeties much less a crew, and as for the music I must ardently disagree with the above review. First of all the music is very subtle, as if the girls had it playing in the background. Sure the music used to introduce scenes might be considered a little quirky but as soon as any action gets underway I find the music to be an enhancement to the very much prevalent natural sounds of these gorgeous sirens. Hats off Viv!! I hope you receive every award conceivable for this beautiful film and when I saw those magic three words at the end of Katie and Ella's breathtaking scene .... well I must admit I hooohaaaed out loud ... Bring on that sequel!!!!

I've seen it all now. Viv Thomas provides us with the ultimate in lesbian erotica and all some people can do is complain about the music? Firstly the music is so barely audible you don't even notice it. It certainly does nothing to detract from the natural sounds in each scene. Secondly if you can't watch this masterpiece without thinking of the music then perhaps lesbian erotica isn't really your thing. Buy it. This DVD deserves your undivided attention. (This review is based on the UK PAL version).

I too am glad to see the "to be continued" at the end. In my humble (male orientated) view no one in the past has come close to producing a lesbian feature film that is this erotic. In every regard this film stands head and shoulders above anything else I have seen over the last 20 years. Viv and his team have made one of those rare films that only comes along once in a while. This film deserves every accolade it will not doubt receive and I am sure it will be seen as the watershed of what all producers/directors will try and aspire to in the future. I simply cannot praise/recommend this film highly enough.

Wow! This was more than I hoped for. All the girls are gorgeous. Jo (What a find she is!) who starts off quite convincingly shy then goes on to enjoy her stay at the house especially with the sexy Lisa (She could run me a bath anytime!) and the two girls who practice kissing but keep going on to orgasm, plus a few more scenes in between. The scenes are quite long with plenty of deep kissing and all the girls wear sexy clothes and underwear before they undress. The music when it is on, isn't intrusive or clichéd and the girls had fun doing it according to the extras and outtakes. Only Dolores has a couple of small tattoos and all the girls speak it seems with cute East European accents. All had refreshingly natural bodies - no implants that I could tell. At nearly two and a half hours this is definite value for money and the only criticisms I have is that the beautiful Katie doesn't seem to feature as much as the others and the mysterious stranger on the train at the beginning features even less but even the ending doesn't disappoint because there is a 'to be continued...' This series can only get better. Definitely something you can watch repeatedly and if this is the Viv Thomas standard then everyone had better watch out!

[This is the first domestic review, posted on 2003-07-26] It's finally here in North America. So, I guess the first question is 'how is it?' Pink Velvet is destined to be a classic lezvideo, bar none. It kind of reminded me of a gentler version of the 70s Swedish classic 'Girl Meets Girl', but with more of a lesbian focus to the storyline. Yeah, the thought of all these women staying in a boarding house sounds like a pretty cliché setup, and it is. But what is impressive is how Thomas finds ways to keep this by-the-numbers approach fresh. Most of the thanks for this go to the four stunning performers he cast: they are all not only strikingly beautiful but enthusiastic for the lesbian action to follow. As for the action, unlike the movie from the 70’s, the sex in this one is full-blown XXX. This is certainly not like a softcore 70’ s sex flick. To tell too much would ruin it for everyone. It’s better that you put your money down and pick up this one - you will not be sorry you did.

Pink Velvet is truly a deliciously long work of erotica. Kudos to Viv/Lezlove Video. The effort is worth the wait. As for the music . . . yes, it's there in the US release. At times, it is monotonous. If you like your videos without music, walk on by. But, the level of excitement captured in scene after scene supercedes the uninspired soundtrack. Viv, bring on Part 2!

Without a doubt, a hot little video with some very erotic, explicit content. As stated unequivocally, the girl/girl sex is unbelievable as Viv does their "hardest" hardcore to date! Yes.. 5 Stars for that! That being said though, the storyline sections are rather weak, with poor, unconvincing acting and editing that's disjointed and awkward at times. And the music soundtrack (apparently only on the US release) is pretty cheesy... like something from a really bad soap opera. I hated to "quibble" but I think most would agree, if they were completely honest. And, as I think someone basically said earlier, ALL of that is completely forgotten (washed away if you will) when the sweet, impassioned lesbian love scenes unfold. It's why it's so cool having this title on DVD! Pink Velvet is not perfect (also stated earlier)... but in some ways, for a lot of people, it's as close to perfect as you're liable to get, right now. It's a kind of blueprint or, at least, a "starting point" for how to go about combining glossy, soft core sensuality with explicit, hard core eroticism. It's the absolute best attempt I've seen anyone try to do along these lines and clearly a landmark film, in that regard. Their hearts were definitely in the "right place" even if ALL the cosmic dots, involving sex and storyline didn't mesh. Hey, there's ALWAYS Pink Velvet 2 and 3, right? Pretty please? Overall, not perfect, but what is? The sex is awesome in EVERY scene, though the other aspects of the video are decidedly weak, and even a little laughable, at times.

I have been a fan of lesbian films since the 8mm days of the '70s and "Pink Velvet" is the best such film I've ever seen. I've put the DVD in three times so far, and I still haven't made it to the end! Fantastic. My congratulations and thanks to all involved, especially the actresses!

I am a female viewer who purchased this DVD and I have to say that I am truly impressed. All of the girls are naturally pretty with real breasts and cute accents. All of the scenes are pretty hot but the scene with Lisa and Delores was my favorite. I like the older/younger woman combo in that. The kissing was fantastic in this movie as was the oral. The music at times I could have done without but all in all it was well worth the purchase. I am looking forward to the rest of this series.

Just wanted to add my vote with the rest of the folks. The movie has the right mix of sensuousness and kink, by building each scene up slowly. Wonderful!! Well worth every single penny!!! The only area for improvement is the music - it overpowers the soft spoken dialogue most times - keep it simple and low. This is solid 5+ stars erotica and I hope to see more.

Albeit the music does get repetitive and annoying after a while, but the action and intensity of each scene more than makes up for it. But what i really enjoyed about this film is the lack of toys and dildo's!! Having watched North American lezbo films and getting so use to fast forwarding the film when the toys come out-it's a breath of fresh air not having to see one in sight! Thank you Viv Thomas and LezloveVideo for introducing us to this excellent film. Can't wait for part 2!!

After the first ten to fifteen videos I reviewed here, I came to the conclusion that there would never be one that I could deem as being "perfect", that would truly deserve a "10". I was wrong. Viv Thomas has achieved something incredibly beautiful here. With phenomenal use of lighting, beautiful girls, and cinematic intelligence, he has created the best lesbian video I have ever seen. Jo, the delectable young blonde from Viv's "Teenage Seduction" video (that sizzling scene with her as the student who falls in love with her teacher), comes to stay at a house run by a lovely brunette (the teacher, I believe) and several girls which include the woman's daughter. What is remarkable about this production is that it is created with just the right amount of plot, sexual tension and seduction, and steamy, beautifully graphic sex scenes that have depth, because they have real, viable situations and emotions behind them. Just watching Jo squirm and smile coquettishly while the older woman draws her bath, as both females anticipate what is to come, got my juices flowing. The girls in the house have jealousies and crushes and there are cute, telling glances at the breakfast table as the girls begin to reveal their desire and curiosity about each other. In one of the most erotic and beautifully filmed scenes in any film I have ever seen, one of the darlings who has a crush on Jo sneaks into her room late one night to be with her, and climbs into her bed. They talk, then kiss, and then unleash their hunger for each other, gradually pulling off the covers, as well as each others cute pajamas. Jo and the older woman finally make love at the end (you are teased by their intimate moments until then) and the eroticism in seeing the younger woman succumb to the passions of the older, dominant one will have you at a high boil by the time you see the young doll on all fours, spread wide, with the sleek and supple lady of the house devouring her crotch like her last meal. One of the chief complaints I and others have about many lesbian videos is the predictability of lovemaking scenes: I lick you in the missionary, and we switch. Then I do you with a toy on all fours, then you do me the same way. So many potentially great scenes, with lovely girls, fall flat because they follow insipid rituals, rather than getting creative. You won't see that in this video - you never can guess what the other girl is going to do, how she is going to make love to the other, and from what angle you are going to see it. Indeed, what makes this video great is that it combines real, deep, sensual lovemaking with cinematic brilliance. The kissing is delicious, the trib and oral are mind-blowing, and there is plenty of fingering and manual loving too. There are NO toys of any kind, nor is there one scene in which a girl even so much as glances at the camera. I don't know what else I can say about this production except that I really cannot imagine one better. If you don't see this, you are missing out on what could be the video by which all others should be judged by. If my rating system went to 15, that's what this would be, but it's a TEN, to be sure.

Closer, much closer. Reviewers, some reviewers, will comment that they enjoyed good down-and-dirty sex, particularly oral & trib, but complain that the film "had no plot, no story". Well, the opposite is true here. Lots, lots of plot and several chapters of story, but this time less of close-up oral, tongue-play, and natural sounds were over-powered by music. A good girl/girl film but look and Abby Winters' latest (Girls on Film and Girls in Love) and Thursday Night Video's Corinna & Erin.

This is an absolutely marvelous film for its depiction of really young girls fulfilling their own bisexual desires. Jo, the star of the film, sees another girl on a train and dreams about kissing her (which establishes early on that her attraction to other girls is natural, and not forced upon her). She later learns to make love to those of her same sex - with an older woman and other cuties her own age. The kissing and oral sex in this movie are phenomenal. And the love scenes (of which there are many) are outstanding. But it’s the barely post-adolescent appearance of the actresses – with their delicate arms and lithe torsos, which makes this film truly exceptional, not just because it appeals to those of us who really like watching young girls; but more importantly because of the innocent sense of discovery - and maturity - that the young women display when they’re together. Really young girls with limbs and faces interlaced never looked more natural or beautiful. And the rightness of emotive women together has never been more powerfully confirmed. This is a film that I hope every girl, young and old, would watch; because if they did, then I’m certain that the entire female population would quickly become completely bisexual! (What a world that would be!) It’s that good! Needless to say, my own pussy-envy meter was totally off of the charts. Maybe in my next life, sigh!

I hate to disagree with all the previous accolades but... well... To begin with, I must say that all of the young women are truly lovely, my personal favorite being Lisa (she also shows just a hint of knowing depravity which can be quite hot). All the women have lithe natural bodies with no need for augmentation and without the contemporary tribal markings that seem to detract from the beauty of so many these days. However, their acting abilities are truly atrocious and the setup for each fantasy scenario is truly lame at best. Much like any pornography you're apt to see from any source in any time period. But I suppose the explicitness of the physical intimacy between each of these parings is what it's really all about and on that account it does indeed deliver. So what is it I expect, art? Well, yes... I just think it could be so much more interesting and much more erotic to be drawn into the fantasy through more realistic situations and natural presentations. We're talking a greater production budget and writers with some talent and for this genre I realize I'm being totally unrealistic. Please forgive. The sex is truly fun. The music mires this video and relates it to all that come before.

Not being a gifted writer, and never one to score films, I felt that this one needs special consideration. The scenes between the characters Jo, and Lisa were they best scenes that I have ever seen. They have all the necessary qualities to make a successful movie. Where else have you ever seen an older woman more completely seduce a younger girl, and by the expression on her face you can tell she knows she is going to be successful. Nice twist. Seduction is one of things that draws me into any movie. This movie has that going for it in all scenes to some degree, but is outstanding in the scenes between Jo, and Lisa. The only items I could nit-pick on would be the inter-cut scene, and that damn ding-dong music that covered up much of the whispered "love talk", that adds so much to the eroticism of any scene. If I want music I'll buy an Alan Jackson CD. But overall this movie is the best. Keep ‘em coming!

Pink Velvet is the best lesbian film I have ever seen. The kissing was mind blowing, and it is nice to watch two women kissing deeply not just tongues showing for the camera. If all lesbian films could be like this I would be very happy. The Lisa-Jo pairing was out of this world, a real zip buster and it is nice to see an older and younger woman pairing, I do not think there is enough of that in DVDs. The tension between the two women is carried through the film until near the end, I thought they would get together in the bath, but when they did not I was thinking when will it happen? What Viv did to keep the tension going between the two women was very good. All the pairings were good but the Jo-Lisa pairing stood out for me. There has to be a second film with all the same women in it, but also with the woman at the beginning of the film (the “train” scene) in it, I think her name was Vicky. Viv has to get her and Jo together, then Lisa and Vicky getting it on. I think that would just finish me off, but what two pairings that would be! To Viv and his team keep up the good work and make sure you have Lisa in more of your films if possible.

Wow, this one is incredible. This movie is in the top two ever made. I can watch Lisa (who goes by the name Cameron Cruz in other adult movies) all day. She's such a classic beauty. She's also in 'Hustler's Girl + Girl 01'. Every scene in this is great. Jo and Katie are adorably cute. The best scene by far is between Lisa and Jo. The older/younger set-up is perfect. I'm definitely buying the next one. I can't wait to see how that turns out. Thanks Viv!!!!

It seems superfluous to add another glowing comment, but this film really is everything others have made it out to be. It's just about the Holy Grail of lesbian movies. One small negative: The chapter index at the start does not do a great job of linking to individual scenes, and the film itself is broken up into two "titles" on the DVD, making it hard to jump to a favourite scene. For example the menu chapter "Four" contains three sex scenes, lasts an hour and a half, and jumps from "Title 1" to "Title 5" halfway through. A movie that had it right. I read the reviews and I thought Pink Velvet was going to be a can't miss. Well it absolutely wasn't. This is an amazing film and a lot of effort was truly put in to it. This is vintage Viv, as the girls in this film are indeed beautiful, and the kissing is well filmed and awesome to behold. I don't know, a little more time and seduction in each scene would have put this off the charts. The video is 178 minutes, we certainly could have had the sex move from kissing to oral a lot slower and still had a lengthy scene. So yeah, it's great, but Sandy and Mayfair still top my list so far.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great video, a wonderful piece of work, but I felt I had to comment on some improvements I'd like to see made in case Viv reads this, and I hope he does (or someone sends it to him). The first thing I noticed about the sex scenes was the lighting was not bright enough. Not quite as good as his other efforts if memory serves me. I don't know if this was for effect or what. The other thing that caught me off guard was that there really wasn't any buildups or seductions before the nakedness. You might say that the "housemom" putting Jo in the bath was the buildup, but that isn't what I'm talking about. The "housemom" started pawing Jo right away, and getting her naked, without much resistance or hesitation at all from the other woman. The other scenes had setups where the girls were pretty much naked instantly and went at it like they had called each other ahead of time and planned the whole thing out to start as fast as possible. Let's see some more buildup and seduction action, before the clothes come off. One girl eyeing up another. Innocently/accidentally touching, then backing off. One girl slowly seducing and teasing the other into the g/g act. How about when they do start to kiss, they make out with one another for a bit with their clothes on, while feeling each other up outside of and inside of their clothes, rub their legs, etc. How about one girl turning on another girl by having them stand front to back and the back girl rubbing up and down the front girl to make her hot. I did notice what appeared to be a bit of this in the Jo's Sexy College video trailer, so I have high hopes for that one. Anyway, this was a very nice title, and I do recommend it. This is a breathtaking piece of work. Believe what you read here. The love scenes, when they finally arrive, are worth the wait. You can almost smell the perfume. First, I’ve noticed over the years that directors and editors have a habit of dubbing music to cover the natural liquid sounds of lovemaking. I’ve now watched two of Viv Thomas’ works and he is tasteful to say the least, but he likes to bring up the music, to a point at times where there is no natural sound to be heard, especially when the performer is not particularly vocal. When she gets steamed up in the course of the sex, the natural sound returns. When the real heavy breathing (yeah, bring it on!) starts and the strained moans of pleasure and passion, which actually are the result of excitement begin, down goes the music and up comes the natural sound. He knows what it’s all about. Keep the music to an absolute minimum level if there must be music, regardless of the actresses ability to vocalize. OOOOOH, these natural undisturbed sounds are the true beautiful music. The simple slurping sounds, even without the moans are sufficient. Second, the girls speak with an accent. They are frequently whispering sweet nothings to each others ears and they are hard to hear and understand. In an effort as sensuous as this why not go the extra mile, or 3 feet or whatever and mic the scene so you can hear them well. The love talk is half the excitement but it falls flat when you either can’t hear or can’t understand. All in all a nicely done bit of real Erotica, with some drop dead gorgeous women in it doing things to one another we all wish we were doing too. The plot is a bit too fabricated here and there but as a background for the outstanding sex scenes and the buildup to them it works ok. I think I’ll tune in for episode 2. It’s definitely a 5 Star.

Is it better then most of the stuff on the market? Yes. Is it great? And yes, knowing what I know now I would still pay the $50 for it. But listen, I am serious about this. I would have paid $100 for it if you not only make it look like they are having sex but you get them to have real sex. Get Elle’s pussy in Delores’ mouth as far as it will go. This is definitely the best lesbian video I’ve seen in a long time. That being said, it still leaves a lot room for improvement. I think most people who post reviews on this site would agree that the major reason why so many lesbian videos are bad is because they adhere to a set of conventions followed by porn movies. These conventions include having no set up between the characters (or one that’s completely ridiculous and unsexy), leaving shoes on during sex, sex where the women barely touch each other, and so on. The great thing about this video is that it takes a solid step away from these conventions. There is a big emphasis on kissing and the women suck each other’s necks and ears. Lisa pays attention to the backs of her partners, a part of the female anatomy sadly neglected in porn movies. Most importantly, the scenes between Lisa and Jo are really romantic and the older/ younger dynamic is great. My main criticism of this video is that it doesn’t go far enough in rejecting the porn movie conventions. Aside from Lisa and Jo, the other pairings have very minimal set ups. The actual sex scene between Lisa and Dolores was great but that setup was lame. I also thought that Ella was the weakest performer. She’s drop-dead gorgeous but she just didn’t seem very enthusiastic, especially in the kissing department. The overall setting, a boarding house for girls run by a lesbian, is still too close to porno convention for me. I would love to see setups that could be out of a mainstream movie or TV show which become lesbian sex scenes. What if Lisa were a housewife having doubts about her marriage who becomes infatuated with her neighbor’s teenage daughter? All in all, this video is superior to almost everything else out there. It would be great to see Viv take one more step in leaving those porn conventions behind.

Holy sh*t! As a big fan of lesbian erotica I too have been frustrated with movies I have rented or bought, until now. It took me four days to watch. PV had some of the best scenes I have ever witnessed, the sex seemed authentic, the girls were naturally attractive and definitely into each other. The build-up did not disappoint. Background music, which I hate, in many cases drowned out the sounds of the actual lovemaking. If music has to be there, can it at least be something romantic and soft? Not Muzak. It's annoying as hell. And for god's sake, can there be at least one good hairy muff now and then? You know, like real life. Or does everyone need to look like an adolescent. There are no doubts that this is a very good movie, but I can't give it five stars. Four at most.

If there are other "5-Star" films, this must be a "6" or "10." As I watched, I tried to think of how it could be better - and came up very short of ideas. Perhaps make it longer with other pairings. What is up with putting in a eerie and strange music sound track? I think that most people here don’t want music in the first place in these movies. So why, if you’re going to added it, do you opt for some strangely freaky music in the background? Odd. This is still a great film and in all seriousness it's probably pretty darn close to the best thing you can buy. But it still could be improved on greatly.

Rather than repeat what's already been said, I will try in this review to add a new light onto this film's style, and of the style of Viv Thomas' in general. I believe that he is trying to create an ideal of the lesbian film, based on what we, the viewers want to see. This is meshed into his production team’s highly original style of color design, cinematography, and careful casting. Beauty is central to his films. This even takes precedence over erotica, which makes those of us with no aesthetic sense cringe, and whine about it not being passionate. Every shot is carefully planned to be visually beautiful. There are no ugly asshole shots, or unflattering poses, or grunting sex sounds to take us out of his vision of beauty. You have to appreciate this film in this respect, or you probably won't get it, and you'll end up feeling cheated. In case no one noticed, the subtitle for Pink Velvet is "the innocence of lesbian love". That alone should tell you its not a hardcore film, and is about capturing something specific, rather than catering to everyone. This theme is something I have long praised, and see as the ultimate level lesbian films should aspire to, but that's merely my own opinion, and not a statement of fact. Many would disagree, but they should not buy this video and complain about it not living up to their expectations. Look before you buy. Don't just read a couple of glowing reviews. Personally, I prefer natural sound over background music, but I think that adding that would ruin the atmosphere so carefully set up here. This is a vision, not a documentary. I love the production design, cinematography, and casting, but let me touch on one final point that you may have overlooked. The reason these models come across as extraordinary is his direction. They are told they are beautiful and perfect, so they believe they are perfect, and they act like it. This kind of confidence gives them a radiance very special in this business. The look in Jo's eyes tells it all. Innocence and absolute confidence all rolled into one. Bravo. There is one point harped on here that I can't leave alone. The kissing in this film is beyond my expectations, and is without reproach. I wouldn't have them change a thing. It’s perfect. That to me is the ultimate achievement between two models, who are not real life lovers. Once again, his crew continues to raise the bar on quality, and every one else must futilely try to catch up. It’s like trying to compete with George Lucas. He will always be one step ahead, and re-creating the mold. You're better off just doing your own thing, than trying to hang with them. Recommended? I know this is cliché, but if you could only take one video with you to a deserted island, this is the video I'd be taking. You're really missing out if you don't see what all the hype is about. The girls are all very young, beautiful and unspoiled by cosmetic surgery; a couple of them are almost flat chested, and this, combined with neatly shaved pussies emphasizes their youth. The first rule of storytelling is to have conflict. Also, I'd like to see some character development. Do your homework on the script and you won't believe how much more erotic the scenes can be! I know for most of these girls, English is a second language but I believe you can get better performances from them. Give them something to play! Get them excited about their characters!! As far as the DVD goes, a few more chapters stops would have been appreciated. I found the music to be surprisingly effective at times. But in the lovemaking scenes, it drags on. Have confidence in your scenes! Don't "fill" the soundtrack with music because you think you have too. Remember, just the simple moans of the girls can be VERY effective! Otherwise, great job! I hope my comments are taken under consideration. I know it's not easy. As a matter of fact, if you take my advise Viv, you have a tough road ahead of you. But if you try, I bet you will reap the rewards later. Won't you take a shot at making something that is truly erotic and not just eye candy?

What more can be said than the previous reviews have already said? If it is a positive comment I agree. I often disagree with the 5* ratings as I think that they are bestowed too frequently. However, PV lives up to and even surpasses the praise given to it. I have purchased several lesbian DVDs but they were the, what I will call generic type films (series/compilation). There is no comparison. These women are sensual, gorgeous, natural, almost 100% tattoo free, and I did not see a toy during the entire movie. The kissing was simply incredible. There was seduction and intensity, yet a charming sense of innocence. I am willing to bet that the price tag is a sensitive subject, and I had a hard time with it, but it is worth every penny and more. I would trade this for 50 of the "run of the mill" DVDs and be happier. I hope that all directors, producers, and actress' take note of this film. This is what lesbian erotica should be. You will not be disappointed!!!

OK, here's my first review, too bad it has to be negative. I bought this because of all the great reviews, guess I should have read the ones concerning the BLASTING MUSIC. I kept trying to find a button that killed the music. If you have a problem with music, look for another DVD. My copy not only had music so loud it drowned out the what the women were saying to each other and while the girls were making love slowly the music was fast. Sorry Viv, but the music really killed any enjoyment of this video. The only really good scenes was the one with Lisa and the girl with pigtails (older/younger) in the mother’s office and the one with Lisa and Jo at the end. Normally I do not do reviews but I had to let those of you who have a problem with loud music in videos know this one is not worth the price. P.S. If you really want to see two woman MAKE LOVE, check out Women Seeking Women 3 and 5 but only the parts with Lena. She may not be beautiful but she can make love to another woman.

Well. What can I say that hasn't already been said a gazillion times? I guess I'll start with what I didn't like first of all... As has been mentioned by others before, the music was bothersome. I don't mind music whatsoever, and I think it was at the right volume and all that good fun stuff, but there was the monotony of it all that really got to me. In the first love-making scene, for example, one 64-beat loop of music played for I don't know HOW long. It was a good song, but a little diversity would be a nice thing. The dynamics of the music went with the lovemaking, however, and I applaud that - getting music and scenes to coincide is pretty tricky when it's something as spontaneous as sex. I really didn't like the general lack of sound quality in the movie, but this is something that one comes to expect with ANY mature film, which is something I don't quite understand. If I were going to offer one suggestion to Viv Thomas for PV2, it would be to buy proper sound equipment and MIC YOUR ACTRESSES PROPERLY. I guess I shouldn't complain, really, because I have no clue how hard/expensive it is, but I DO know that as an audience member, it completely kills the mood when I have to rewind in the middle of a wet lesbian encounter to see what the girls were whispering to each other. One other thing - I thought they paid a little too much attention to the nipples. It seemed overdone to me, because while they paid great attention to every other square inch of each others bodies, the girls completely ignored all of the breast, excluding the nipple. That made me sad. Now. As for praise... *takes deep breath* Pink Velvet was an incredible movie. It was the first mature film I have EVER seen (lesbian or otherwise) that actually showed actresses who were enjoying what they were doing. As I watched the entire film, I kept noticing wet streaks on the girl's legs during tribadism, I noticed that when a finger was pulled out of a vagina it was coated with juices - real ones - and I noticed that the girls were only too eager to lick their fingers completely clean when aforementioned juices were on them. The moans were real, the bucking of hips were real. There was no cheesy/fake feeling that I get from every other adult movie I've ever seen. The girls actually got a gleam of sweat on them and messy hair - which, in real life accompany sex (yet not so in pornography). The sex was on a realistic time scale, with lengthy make-out sessions precluding sex, rather than a couple kisses and DIVE DIVE DIVE ORAL SEX YAHOO!! It was great, actually seeing two girls make out. When I watch a video featuring two young women passionately caught up in sexually devouring each other I could care less about quality of story, realistic portrayal of innocence, cinematographic excellence, continuity of plot, convincing acting (except to illustrate sexual enjoyment) or any of the movie industry artistic claptrap. I want to watch two females thoroughly enjoy each other completely and to capture all of that, including the natural sounds for the reviewer's pleasure without being drowned out by music. This should include LONG uninterrupted close-ups for the viewer of kissing; energetic trib; excited, aroused mouth to genitalia oral: sucking, licking, tongue-fucking, smacking; top & bottom 69; side-by-side 69; face sitting, etc. And, the girls/women need to be completely natural without assistance from tattoo parlors, razors, body piercings, etc. That’s what is needed by me and from all that I read on these commentaries applies also to quite a number of US purchasers. Those seeking movie excellence awards for cinematography, script, best music, most creative dildos, etc. should not apply. Incidentally and by the way, this film is better than most but still doesn't get to what many of want, i.e. unstructured, unbridled lovemaking between two females and then let them get as aroused as they possibly can. Then, stand back and do your best to capture on camera WITH natural sound.

I agree with the majority of the reviews that this is a good effort by Viv, cast, and crew. The actresses were very good together, and displayed what I want to see in woman-to-woman lovemaking: namely, passion and heat. The girls should enjoy being intimate with another woman, and the focus should be on having fun and ending in obvious orgasms. It should be as if no-one else is in the room with them. This movie succeeded in doing that, and it reminded me of what I call the standard to work toward, "Sabina and Anais" My favorite episode was the one with Ella and Dolores, to me they seemed very much into each other. Concerning the promised sequel, I offer some suggestions about what I find erotic and exciting (or not): The kissing here was good, keep it up. But show us more full body shots of beautiful female bodies pressed close together and intertwined, many hugs and caresses, more trib and grinding, even to climax, with the attendant heavy breathing and wild abandon. Turn off the music completely when the action gets intense, (that was done to some extent here, could be improved), and when there is dialog. Legit gripe about the poor audio when they were talking. Mike it better. What I would love to see a LOT LESS of are the clinical closeup shots of genitals and anus, particularly during insertion of fingers therein. I don't know if women really get off on this anal play, but it does nothing for me. It is simply not erotic. Make the shots very brief or at least pull back several feet to show facial expression and body movement. I'd grant some leeway to oral, but here again, pull back some. There are flashes of brilliance here and in the other features that I have of Viv's: Mayfair and Babe Abroad 2 with Sandy. I liked the "softness" of Mayfair and was somewhat put off by the sometime raunch of the latter. Some good pairings with Sandy in that one though. One final request is to bring Vikki into the house, the idea of her with Lisa and Katie has me drooling.

I received my copy of Pink Velvet yesterday, and to this jaded male it was the most erotic adult film I have ever had the pleasure to view. The girls are hot and hot for each other. I will reiterate one of the other reviews where it is pointed out they really, really get overpoweringly wet. There is a close-up of pussy just oozing love juices. Streaks of wetness when one girl tribs on another’s thigh. It's these little details as much as the overall atmosphere that make this film unique. Jo is the key character and she is an absolute doll. Her kissing is superb and she seems to draw the best out of her partners when she kisses them. In my opinion, she features in the two hottest scenes, in her bedroom with one of the other girls and finally with Lisa. And she has such a perfect bottom. There are a couple of long shots of her lying between Lisa's legs. And more of shots of her bottom when Lisa devours her. It's worth buying it just for that scene alone. The music has been criticized by some. I didn't find it overpowering or distracting. The dialogue is simplistic, but this is as much a result of the girls being Hungarian than anything else. A couple of the set-ups for sex are a little lame. Delores and Lisa could have had a better excuse for getting together. Just started watching -- yes, it is in a unique class all right. Acting, story, wonderful young lesbian sex, with older/younger tossed in for fun. Obviously a great deal of time, planning, and energy went into producing this. I have to wonder though what being a producer of XXX is like, I mean, there's all this wonderful sex going on, but darn it all, it's still business! You gotta be concerned with pay, lights, angles, technical issues, staff problems, divas flipping out, timing, editing... I have to wonder if somehow it ends up making one's fantasy life into another ^%^&* job?! Well, I'd be happy to take the chance to find out. Just need girls like the ones Viv finds and I'd start my new career in a heartbeat. :) Anyway, yes, this is a wonderful movie. Only thing I would mention though is this: soundtrack. It's wayyy too aggressive. I can barely hear the girls talking to each other. I like that part of lez movies. For example, in Here Cums the Bride, there was almost no soundtrack and I could hear the girls just fine and it was great, listening to their banter while they fooled around was half the fun of watching. Also, the DVD format is of course great and portable, but like many other DVDs, this one does not allow the user to cue up by time, but only by scene. So the only things I would suggest to Viv is to turn down the soundtrack on the film (even I suggest go so far as to re-issue the film with the reduced soundtrack/no soundtrack, even) and if he can, implement time-based cueing rather than support only scene-based cueing on the DVDs. But in the end, no matter what, there is no doubt that this film sets a whole new standard by which other g/g films are to be measured. Viv really raised the bar with this one and I believe it is destined to go down in the history of XXX along with Deep Throat, The Opening of Misty Beethoven, and Insatiable. But frankly for the genre (g/g) and type (on-going vignette/semi-documentary) of film, I would say it exceeds those others in comparison. My opinion though may be based on the fact that nothing jazzes me more than g/g stuff. :) Thanks, Viv. I am eagerly awaiting "Pink 2".

I won't go into much detail, won't make scene-by-scene breakdowns, or even tell you everything I liked. I am going to tell you what I think makes it the best lesbian video I have ever seen! 1) Length: This movie is over 2 1/2 hours long! Most adult movies are 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours. You definitely can't beat that. 2) It's name: aka The Innocence of Lesbian Love. It's fits perfectly. Not only is it innocent, but extremely sexy at the same time. In many of the scenes it was very easy to believe the girls were actually in love. 3) The seduction: The way Lisa slowly seduces Jo is unbelievable. In addition, those of you who enjoy older/younger scenes will thoroughly enjoy those scenes. 4) The girls (one woman): All of them were supernaturally beautiful. It can't get any better than this. 5) The kissing: Even if you aren't a kissing fan, this movie will turn you into one. Girls kissing girls has never looked sexier. 6) The buildup and sex: Both were phenomenal. This is the perfect movie for both men and women to enjoy. Final thoughts: With the exception of possibly the sequel (which I haven't seen yet) I don't think anyone, not even Viv himself for that matter, will ever top this movie. FINALLY I can review this. I emphasize FINALLY because this movie is quite long and so good that it took forever to get to the end of this movie and digest all of its goodness. I have taken issue with some of the 5-Star films on this site. I thought Jo's College Diaries was pretty good, but not 5-Star, Hot Showers 1 & 2 were cold and dry, Sandy Babe Abroad Season 2 missed more than it hit, and so on... most of the 5-Star films have at best have a couple of 5-Sstar moments. Pink Velvet however is without question a 5-Star film among 5-Star films. It is without doubt the hottest piece of erotica I have ever seen, exceeding where all others fail. 1. It’s long. Plenty of content and nothing you'll want to skip over. 2. Passion. It’s here! Finally a lesbian flick with some real passion! Definitely some real orgasms and the girls usually seem really into each other. 3. Buildup and seduction. Yes, lots of it. Maybe not the epic seduction I'm waiting for, but relative to most this one is pure gold! 4. Sound. Unusual music, but it really works. The sound is not great, but it never is in any porn, and it’s much better than most. 5. Attractiveness of the women. Holy freaking shit. Viv Thomas has nailed my tastes. Young and natural, not too much makeup, sexy playful clothing, no boob jobs... just gorgeous young women all around. 6. Kissing. Almost there. To be fair, the kissing in PV1 is about as good as it gets in lesbian erotica, but there were a few times I felt they could have dwelled on it a little longer. I'm just a sucker for the lesbian kiss. 9/10 for kissing for the best I've seen! 7. Other. Most of the time, you'll never know there's a camera in the room. That's a huge compliment in my book, as most porn I've seen fails to take you deep enough into the fantasy to lose the camera. The only points I could take off are for the premise of one of the scenes, in which Dolores thinks she might have caught "something" from a sexual encounter and wants Lisa to check out her pussy. I know it was just a silly premise, but disease is a fantasy-killer in my book! I've never had such passion for any piece of erotica - this one really takes the cake. The last scene with Ella and Katie is so beautiful I could almost weep! I doubt if I'll ever see a better porn flick, but Viv, please keep trying!

After reading so many good reviews and after waiting impatiently for its arrival, I must confess that everything I felt after watching Pink Velvet was disappointment. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with almost everything I’ve read above. Despite the excellent production and gorgeous cast, there are some drawbacks in this film. Some of the reviewers have already pointed out that the storyline is rather weak and there really wasn’t any buildups or seduction before the nakedness. But let me say what I think. First of all there is the language problem. The girls seem to be talking in English, but I confess that I understood almost anything. Of course one can understand when they say “Hi”, or “I love you”, but even a parrot can say that. The problem could have been avoided if they had had a language coach or something. Or perhaps Viv Thomas should have provided English subtitles for English as a Second Language audiences as I am. Second, there is the acting problem. The girls act so poorly that is hard to believe. Nothing is so far from the real life that a girl making love to another girl on all fours on a table, as it happens in the scene with Lisa and Dolores! Besides, where is the eroticism in a scene where a girl spits in another girls ass and then inserts a finger in it? Last but not least, I would give an advice to Viv Thomas and all other directors of this genre: please, we are not students of Medicine, we don’t need classes of anatomy, we are not studying to be gynecologists – so what is the point in exposing in closes the red flesh of an awful genitalia (as is the case of Dolores)? Recommended? Certainly, but not as a 5 star film.

Once in a while, a production comes along that redefines excellence, standing so far above all other contemporary examples that it's difficult to fully appreciate the leap that has been taken forward. At the risk of being drowned out in the chorus of praise, I must also add my voice and recommend the purchase of this DVD. Pink Velvet is simply the "Ben-Hur" of Sapphic erotica, the best production I've ever encountered, the one that brings all the key elements I've been wishing for in a lesbian movie. In an industry where one can make money by filming a crappy scene between two bored actresses in a weed-infested backyard, efforts to produce a first-rate erotic, tasteful and sensual film are rare indeed, and truly appreciated!! Sex is what porn is about, but the lesbian film aficionado often looks for something more: stolen kisses, slow-buildups, engaging seductions, loads of intimacy. This movie has all of this and more! I was repeatedly shocked when the actresses would stop for a moment in the middle of a scene, whispering softly to each other, or gazing at each other before falling into a deeper embrace. After years of watching lesbian videos where things go by the numbers, where every encounter is scripted the same way, where romance and affection are sacrificed for the sake of expediency and hard-core close-ups, watching a scene that breaks all the old rules left me stunned and pleased beyond all expectations. The scenes with Lisa and Jo provide the best example of this: early on, as the older woman seduces her lovely guest, you can never quite tell where she's going, opting for a slow approach one moment, only to steal a sudden kiss in an intimate place that leaves Jo shuddering with anticipation. All of this pent-up lust and yearning lights up the screen, but the tension always remains building up throughout the movie. My hat goes off to Lisa and Jo -- they have captured something that is truly unique. I for one sincerely hope that this will not be the only movie where those two lovely ladies grace the screen. Some previous reviews have taken issue with the plot, which is a charge I can't really understand. The vast majority of porn movies hardly bother, providing an excuse for sex, period. Even the more "complex" stories are often resolved quickly, in a way that leaves no one surprised of the outcome. Although "Pink Velvet" opens with a plot that is bound to lead to hours of girl/girl sex, it never strays from the intimacy, love and innocence shared by all of the characters. This is a movie about slow discovery and seduction, blooming into the heat of intense, sensual passion. It never hurries, never rushes, leaving the girls to uncover their hidden lusts for each other in a series of long encounters that will leave you breathless. In terms of feedback to the producers of his priceless gem, I would agree with some of the previous comments: story and romance are key. Fleeting encounters, dream sequences, sexual tension and slow buildup all combine to enhance the romantic quality of the relationships. Dealing with issues of love and commitment would also play an important part in making this a very erotic series; it was touched on a little, and I hope the trend will be explored further. Bravo!

Really, what is all the hype about??? Yes, the production is good, but it isn't great and is far from perfect. Sadly, I have to admit that it is the best lesbian porn film that I have seen to date, but that's a slur against the quality of movies in this genre, which in the vast majority of cases is simply trashworthy material. We're glorifying this because: A) Unlike most 'lesbian' porn films, there are actually no men in this movie. Well, congratulations for someone finally figuring out that people don't buy lesbian porn to see ugly hairy guys!, B) The girls are not made of plastic. Yes, we actually want to see real women, without fake tits and half a ton of make-up! And I think you'll find that most viewers aren't too keen on tattoos either, which also sets this production aside from most other rubbish, C) The girls put on a pretty good show of acting like lesbians, and in some cases they may even convince you that they genuinely enjoy other women. But how about finding some REAL lesbians for your porn movie? I mean, come on, one in a hundred women claim to be real life lesbians; that means there are over half a million lesbians in the UK alone. They can't be that hard to find, surely. I give credit where it is due, and Viv Thomas does deserve credit for breaking away from the mainstream trash. The camerawork was top-notch, and there were some great close-ups of pussy-licking, etc. The 2 hr 30+ duration and all the special features are also markers of a quality production. This is a big step in the right direction, but to keep praising it as the ultimate in lesbian erotica, is to accept all the other rubbish out there as being even remotely worthy of our money. As VT commented above, the whole industry needs a good shake-up, and hopefully this company will lead the way in fulfilling the industry’s true potential. I agree with the comments made by Alphawolf and Viv Fan above, and I feel we are a long way from getting close to the fantasies we each have in our heads. A few hints/suggestions: 1. More seduction/build-up. Not much is needed, but an extra few minutes of plot and maybe some on-top-of-the-clothes making out would greatly enhance otherwise overly-repetitive scenes. The scene with Katie and Ella came close to the mark. Nothing is better in my mind than a girl seducing another girl, who at first seems to be almost offended by the thought, then gets caught up in the moment. (The scene with Ella and Peaches in PV2 was much better example.) 2. Closer, deeper lovemaking. Not once did we see one woman stick her tongue right inside the other person. Do we ever? Why not? They are lesbians, right? 3. More variety, less awkward positions. We all love the deep kisses and the pussy-licking that are trademarks of Viv’s work, but there was very little trib, kissing/licking other parts of the body or even simple embracing. (I personally don’t mind strap-ons or other toys, providing they are used right. I think most viewers are put off because of the way they are used in mainstream porn, but I think we’d all agree that Viv does it better.) 4. Maybe some pubic hair, or is that too much to ask? I've recently gotten my DVD of Viv Thomas's "Pink Velvet 1" from LezLove: a very wise purchase. As a LONG TIME viewer of Lesbian tapes/DVD's, I think "Pink Velvet 1" is the Very Best I have ever watched. The five women cast in the production are the finest I have had the fortune to see. Jo and Lisa were totally wonderful to observe, natural and erotic at the same time. The other models: Ella, Katie and Dolores were a joy, all extremely beautiful with a hint of young inexperience in the ways of Lesbian Love. I sometime in the future would like to see Viv Thomas feature Jo and Katie in a film. Both are innocently sexual and very attractive, both would complement each other. This is by far one of the greatest lesbian films I have ever seen, period. The girls are all gorgeous and I love those accents. It has a rather boring but easy to follow plot that sets the mood for the scenes rather nicely. The sex is simply incredible - I couldn't even get through the first scene on my first viewing, it got me to the breaking point long before it was over! One part in particular that simply floored me was, in the first scene, the two gorgeous girls began tribbing, and the close-ups were phenomenal. Normally I am not a fan of tribbing because it is so poorly shot, but this was outstanding. So as it continued, I noticed that both girls were getting considerably wet, and then to my utter shock, one if not both of them came. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The girl on top erupted, her gooey juice leaking down onto her partner's vagina, and the most intense part was that you could see it pouring out of her and running down her partner's vagina onto the bed. I actually yelled aloud "Oh my god, they're coming!" I've never been so turned on by lesbian porn in my entire life. It gets everything right: NO TOYS!, fantastic sex, beautiful girls, chemistry and interest between the girls, the young look to most of the girls, extreme close-ups, masterful cunnilingus, and a general passion. This film's shortcomings include: jumping around (the first scene in particular annoyed me as it jumped repeatedly between two scenes, the bathroom scene of which was rather uninteresting), annoying and droning music, and sometimes fuzzy camerawork. Otherwise it was utter perfection. I would dare say that, despite the EXTREMELY HEFTY price tag, it was worth the price of admission. Bravo, Viv Thomas. Bravo. I will NEVER need another lesbian porn film in my collection again after this, simply because I think it’s going to take me a while before I have the stamina to last for an entire scene out of the many scenes on this DVD. I will be buying the sequel.

I know this is going to piss a few people off, but I guess that this is why they call it an "amateur" production. Viv is truly a professional in every aspect of his work, and it shows. Even the parts that are imperfect do not take away from the overall quality of this film. This is truly great, and I look forward to purchasing PV2 as well as other Viv films.

Well, I don't know how this film earned five stars. It seems obvious to me that the reviewers simply voiced their own preferences, which, unfortunately, do not constitute an objective review. The movie was praised for sensuality and especially the kissing scenes, but the performance of the actors does absolutely not stand up to that. While it is clear that we are not presented with high-class Hollywood actors, the camera completely fails to capture what the actors bring forth. Proper lighting would also have been a great asset to this production. Editing is a very important part in filming, and a poor cutter can destroy the work of the best directors and cameramen. In Pink Velvet, the editor obviously didn't know when to dissolve and when to use a clean cut. It is not enough to simply film the action and cut the scenes together, sorry.

I just watched this again to see if perhaps all of the ravings were justified, and I was wrong in the minority. It was possibly even less interesting than the many times earlier that I had viewed it in hopes that there was something exciting. These are perhaps the most overrated videos on the market with a vast following, or maybe the comments are from stooges with Viv Thomas. Something must be at work to receive such undeserved raves.

Mr. Thomas and Lezlove Staff: As someone who only purchases and watches all-girl adult movies, I have seen my share. This movie, by far, has to be the most incredible movie in the genre to-date, no question about it. I sometimes find myself, when I buy a movie, skipping along on my DVD player because some parts of the scene are slow. However, with this piece I never once moved it along, and honestly found myself glued to the screen as if I were watching a main stream feature. I do not know what, if any, awards you have received from AVN, but if you are not and/or have not been recognized, shame on them. An excellent movie. Potential buyers must note the sex is mostly sensitive lovemaking and first-time experimentation. While the scenes and story are all authentic, some small errors present frustration. For example, Katie (Eve Angel) leaves her hair in a ponytail during her entire scene. One thing I cannot forgive a director is to consciously downplay his actresses' strongest features. It would be like Pam Anderson modeling winter coats. Another example of diminishing returns occurs with the bathtub scene. Jo's hesitating may be attractive upon first viewing, but her unwillingness to throw herself into the sex may frustrate repeat watchers. If you're like me and pick and choose by specific actresses, you're likely to find better scenes featuring Eve (Six Days with Vera II), Jo (Art of Kissing II), and Lisa (Art of Kissing).

For me, the acting was too contrived. About half of the sex was good, but nothing seemed to get my heat up too much, unlike PV3 where every scene seems to do it for me. So I'll admit, this could be just me, but PV1 falls short of the standard I expect from Viv.

An exceptional movie with a few flaws. Previous reviewers’ comments about slow-to-develop scenes and incessant background music (who the hell decided background music enhances sex scenes?) are justified. Still, the actresses are gorgeous and the sex is intense. 5 stars (without the music).
