It occurred to me about two-thirds of the way through “Vintage Vivid All-Girl: Amber Lynn” that I was watching some of the best sex barely seen in a porn movie. When I watched porn in the 80s I don’t remember noticing that the girls’ positions shifted so rapidly. On the other hand, I do recall being frustrated a lot, so maybe the 10 scenes in this film are representative, after all. And it’s too bad because most of the girls shown in this film really know what they’re doing. Not that this is a bad movie, it’s just frustrating at times. Like the whole Amber Lynn thing. With a title like this movie has, you’d expect to see a lot of Amber. Amber appears in one scene, with Ginger Lynn. It’s maddening in a way, but it doesn’t really matter (unless you’re an Amber fan). In fact, this installment in the “Vintage Vivid” series is good, sometimes unusual entertainment. But it was a different world back then. To judge by this film, not only were the positions briefly held, but there were far fewer close-ups and a lot more two-shots. It’s as if as the girls’ bodies became more explicit with shaving and breast enhancement, the sex followed suit. (Or perhaps it was the other way around?) In any case, these vintage scenes are in some ways much more erotic than their more recent counterparts. (The girls, too, are more erotic, combining beauty, enthusiasm, and sexual skill in the way professionals should.) One highlight of the film is a short, oddly truncated scene in a pool with Tracy Adams and Jacqueline Lorians that features the most forceful dunking I recall seeing in mainstream porn film. The dom/sub theme is rarely handled so intensely. For the vintage porn fan, of course, almost every scene is a highlight. To see Ginger Lynn and Amber Lynn together, performers like Barbara Dare, Erica Boyer, Bionca, and even Annette Haven up to their old tricks is a nostalgic joy. Even one of the two FFM threesomes included on the tape is hot.
