Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole & Helen Mirren.

This is the complete unedited and unrated version, both VHS & DVD! Please note that the DVD version we have is an even longerer cut at 156 min.

Caligula may very well be the most controversial film in history. Only one movie dares to show the perversion behind imperial Rome, and that movie is Caligula, the epic story of Rome's mad emperor. All the details of his cruel, bizarre reign are revealed right here: his unholy sexual passion for his sister, his marriage to Rome's most infamous prostitute, his fiendishly inventive means of disposing those who would oppose him, and more. The combined talents of cinematic giants Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, and Shakespearean actress Helen Mirren, along with an acclaimed international cast and a bevy of beautiful Penthouse Pets make this unique, historical drama a masterwork of the screen. Not for the squeamish, not for the prudish, Caligula will shock and arouse you as it reveals the deviance and decadence beneath the surface of the grandeur that once was Rome.

Two lesbian scenes, the second, notable one is superb, otherwise a STRANGE movie.

Now if they'd shown THIS back in school, maybe I would have paid attention to my History classes.

Critic: This is a one-of-a-kind movie, the hybrid child of a porn film and a powerful historical drama, and the only film I've ever seen to actually pull off the feat of satisfying both genres. Malcolm Macdowell's performance as the twisted and megalomaniacal Gaius Caligula Caesar is chillingly potent. The sets and production are exceptional, and the story is as gripping as it is shocking.
Rating: A

Lover: The recurring sapphic couple are great to see, and their love scene is as passionate as they come. It would have been better though, if there were more of a side story developed to explore their relationship.
Rating: B-

Voyeur: The decadence of the Roman Empire! Ahh, the good old days, when women wore nothing under their loose fitting togas, and orgies were as common as birthday parties. Those were the days, and this movie brings them back in all their lascivious splendour! There's plenty of pulchritude to keep you happy between the historical bits (and some rather disturbing parts). The lesbian scenes are absolutely delicious and hotter than Hell! A must have if there ever was one!

You know, I saw this movie solely because I wanted to see the girl-girl scene in it, and I'm sorry to say it wasn't worth the effort. This movie was a disappointment from the word GO!

First of all, I've always been a big fan of PENTHOUSE because I've always loved their girl-girl pictorials. So when they made this film I KNEW they'd do that right, and it would have all the right elements of seduction and creative lovemaking and beautiful women. Well, I got one out of three. The women were beautiful.

But there's no seduction. They just go into a room together and do it. As for creativity and imagination, there is none. Instead it's the old I-do-you-then-you-do-me formula that everybody uses. She sucks her tits and pussy, then vice-versa. And, I always hate it when you have two beautiful women together, both with gorgeous derrieres, and they proceed to virtually ignore eachother's beautiful behinds! Like I said, I saw this movie for the sole purpose of seeing a great girl-girl scene, and it didn't happen!

As for the rest of the film, it was realistic only in illustrating how disgusting some of the Romans could actually be. Nothing erotic in that. As for following history, you'd be much better off viewing the "I, Claudius" series. Much better, far more entertaining, and even more erotic in my opinion. This effort by PENTHOUSE was a complete waste of time and money.

I first saw this movie over 10 years ago and of course what captured my attention was the decadent sexual aroma that permeated every nook and cranny of this delightful and superbly acted masterpiece.

Now if only Bob could put some of the spice contained within this film into his publication......

This movie is amazing. Although the storyline is sad and rather violent at times, the sexual aspect of it is awesome! The scenes of oral sex are phenomenal and the lesbian smooching scenes are out of this world. Plenty of sexy bare female belly scenes to keep my eyes glued to the screen.
