Illusion
You've gotta give the writers credit for sticking parody references to just about every Sci-Fi show they could come up with into the script. At least it shows they were trying.Critic: To say that this movie has a more structured plot, deeper character definition, and a more plausible storyline than its predecessor is like saying that a Dodge Dart is more reliable than a Pinto. That said, I did get a few legitimate chuckles out of it, despite the very plastic characters (literally and figuratively) and stilted unconvincing dialog.
Rating: C+ Lover: Let's not fool ourselves, this tape is eye candy. There aren't even a lot of lesbian scenes, much less a strong relationship theme. The two scenes involved are staged and unrealistic. The first one starts out well, as two women perform a striptease for each other with no one else around. Lots of eye contact and seductive dancing put some chemistry into the scene, and the women seem to be interested in each other, but they never really go anywhere with it, and in the end it's abundantly clear that all women involved are more interested in men than each other. The second scene is just a virtually created fantasy that the male alien watches, so you can imagine how genuine and sincere the affection is between them.
Rating: C- Voyeur: Okay, my first complaint is the deceptive cover notes. It says that "two gorgeous space trackers" are sent to look for Kara. This would imply that the two aliens that are introduced in this sequel are both of the feminine persuasion, the result of which would be volumes of lesbian potential! Guess again, the two aliens sent are of Kara's race (evidently the genus "femalienus"), but only one of them decided to take on a female form. On a related note, this movie shares its predecessor's dubious distinction of containing male frontal nudity. Definitely not what we came here to see.
There's a good deal of potential in this video. For example at one point the two aliens are watching two humans (a man and woman unfortunately) have sex and as the woman's clothing comes off, the female alien has a very noticeable response to that specifically. Nice foreshadowing, even if the rest of the scene is a bust. Later, an actual lesbian scene has the advantage of a long buildup as the alien and another girl strip seductively for each other. The flirtatious body language and hungry expressions as they eye each other make it very exciting to watch, and sets your expectations quite high. The actual contact between the two women doesn't really meet those expectations however. The second lesbian scene is impaired by the presence of the male alien watching (and in the end joining), but at least it's a lot longer and more involved than the first. The girls go through all kinds of positions, and though it definitely feels staged, at least it's fun to watch.
Overall, this movie needed to bring back Sara St. James, but what can you do?
